I wanted to like this book, but it just tries too hard to slap in every zombie trope there ever was into the plot and narrative. ( )Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. Meh, far from the best example of the zombie genre, with several elements simply borrowed from better known works, occasional clunky writing, poor pronoun choices and inconsistent continuity and world-building, with a lack of basic physics. The basic plot was more or less ok, but probably over complicated by the author trying to achieve too much in one go.Zombies have risen (fortunately no attempt is made explaining why) and humanity has adapted, power supplies and technology basically work, but most people are still living in small towns and politicians are pitching in to raise moral etc. An active zombie response team presence helps keep many areas clear. Tennessee is particularly lucky because one of their teams is headed by an Abnormal, one of the very few who've survived zombie infection without losing too much humanity, and gained loads of powers (added in as the author feels fit without any regard to consistency or world building). Elizabeth is somewhat concerned that they've seen several outbreaks of clusters of zombies close to her town, whereas they should only be isolated wanderers drifting in. The team don't have any particular problems dealing with them though, and track a few sources. There's a very poor (even by usual poor fictional accounts) of the team exploring a cave network, with people falling many feet onto rocks unscathed, navigating in the dark and lack of understanding of their 3D nature. It wasn't totally terrible, but the frequent jumping to other characters viewpoints didn't help, not one I'm interested in exploring further. Her team cleans up zombies that are still showing up since the big zombie turn a few years ago. Elizabeth has some powers she uses to help her do her job and do it well. While Elizabeth stands out in a way many other characters introduced into the story also vie for the top heroine spot. I felt the story was light and kept me interested but so many characters had equal footing and not much was flushed out. If this becomes a series it may come to fruition but as is, most of the characters are forgettable. Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but I think that’s a good thing! It means that the book spoke for itself, as well as the characters you were introduced to. I found this book to be a pretty good read, from the first interaction with the main character to the last line. Books with zombies as a plot device aren’t always my favorite, but this one was unique, which I am all about. The storyline was interesting, the characters fully fleshed out. Definitely worth the time to check it out! Questa recensione è stata scritta per Recensori in anteprima di LibraryThing. So there are zombies, after the majority of the outbreak is over, you need teams to go in and "clean house." The ablest survivors are given the job of Zombie Rescue Teams. Anytime there's a "pop-up" of zombie infections, the ZRT groups are sent in. The book has a little mystery, lots of family secrets, the possibility of a 2nd novel after this one. It's not over the top on blood and gore like some zombie novels are. It was entertaining. I received a free eBook copy from #bhcpress of #zrtdivisiontennessee my comments are my own. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
