I want to like this book because the art is nice and the lead character's design reminds me of Amity Blight from The Owl House, but I could never quite get comfortable with the portrayal of what seems to be dissociative identity disorder since it comes off like a sort of cool super-power. The rest of the book is fairly typical middle school fare, with friendships and romances forming and storming amongst a group of one-note supporting players: the mean girls, the ditzy girl, the girl-crazy boy, the cool girl, and the LGBTQ+ brown-skinned boy.

I might try the next volume if it shows up at my local library, but I won't be actively seeking it out. ( )

Elle is just another bubbly, good-natured teenage girl, who wastes no time making friends at her new school. But, Elle isn’t alone - she has a colorful mix of personalities which comes out at different times of her life. She’s struggling to figure out who she really is, and worried that her new friends won’t want to be around her when they find out.

This graphic novel was a page turner that I wish was 4x longer because I was enjoying the characters and story so much. The art was beautiful as well and I loved the changing of the hair color in order for us to see which Elle is currently on the surface.

This is definitely going to be a series that I will keep my eye out for new volumes of for sure! ( )

Elle is the new girl. Despite that difficult situation she befriends rapidly a band of four teenagers and enjoys as much as possible her new high school everyday life. But suddenly something is off. The four friends, Farid, Linotte, Maëlys, and Otis notice that Elle has constant mood shifts, as if she was a totally different person…Not one person, but five. Strongly determined to help their new friend, the teenagers decide to dig into the girl's past.

Elle(s) is a graphic novel published last year in France by Le Lombard and published in the United States by Europe Comics. Written by Kid Toussaint and illustrated by Aveline Stokart, it introduces us to a bubbly and good-natured character. But just like the four friends, we realize rapidly that something is wrong. As the reader, we have an unique view on Elle, as we can observe her from the outside, but also from the inside. And inside her mind is hidden a strange shadow character that seems to be ready to do anything to take over the young woman’s body.

A wind of mystery flies over that first book of the series. Elle(s) is a graphic novel with a very good story and beautiful colorful art. ( )
