Bereits beim Betreten der Welt der "Marvelous Misfits" fühlte ich mich sofort wohl. Da dieses Buch durch eine geringe Seitenanzahl besticht ist es umso wichtiger, dass die Geschichte einen sofort abholt & bei sich behält. Genau das ist, meiner Meinung nach, Andrea Hahnfeld hier außerordentlich gut gelungen.
Sie hat einen sehr tollen, flüssigen Schreibstil & beschreibt die Umgebung um ihre Charaktere herum so gut, dass man das Gefühl hat selbst vor Ort zu sein & den Protagonisten lauscht.

Das Thema Charaktere ist auch hier wundervoll! Gegensätzlicher könnten sie gar nicht sein & hier prallen bereits in den ersten Seiten Welten aufeinander, welche einen "Spießer" natürlich erst einmal in seinen Grundtiefen erschüttert. Ihr letztliches Zusammenspiel lässt einen aber immer mal wieder kurz schmunzeln & die ein oder andere Szene berührt einen tief im Herzen.

Ich würde nicht sagen, dass nur Hundebesitzer hier auf ihre Kosten kommen & diese Liebe zu ihnen nachempfinden kann. Denn wir alle haben ein Tier oder etwas anderes zu dem wir eine tiefe Verbundenheit fühlen, sodass wir die Story an uns ran lassen können.

Das Cover ist trotz der grellen Farbe nicht aufdringlich und gut zum Inhalt des Buches gewählt. Es sticht ins Auge & lässt den Blick kurz verweilen mit der Frage was sich wohl dahinter verbirgt.

Fazit:

Ich kann dieses Buch absolut empfehlen. Die englische Sprache sollte einen nicht abschrecken, da man dem Ganzen gut folgen kann. Das Schulenglisch sollte hier ausreichend sein. Die Geschichte hat alles was man in einem Buch sucht: Herz, eine gute Prise Humor & viel Liebe im Detail der Autorin mit grandiosen Ideen!

Die Autorin Andrea Hahnfeld hat eine Reihe an einzigartige Charaktere erschaffen, die ihre Liebe zu Hunden in der Geschichte teilen. Ich als Hundehalterin hatte viel Spaß beim Lesen und konnte die Verbindung zwischen Mensch und Tier gut nachvollziehen.

Ich durfte es lesen, da ich es gewonnen habe.
Ich fand diesen Schreibstil voll interessant. Es war für mich eine Herausforderung ein englisch geschriebenes Buch zu lesen, aber nach ein paar Seiten war ich drin.
Es ist etwas mysteriös, aber auch irgendwie spannend. Schattenjagender Hund und verschwundene Ehefrau. Da gab es wirklich tolle Charaktere und ich kann es wirklich empfehlen.

Eine wirklich schöne Geschichte. Sie berührt das Herz ohne kitschig zu sein. Die Story gestrickt um den „gefallenen“ Zuchtrichter Clement, besticht durch Humor, überraschende Wendungen und Hoffnung. Für uns Hundefreunde sehr gut nachvollziehbar, sind die tiefen Bindungen zwischen Hund und Herrchen. Aber ich denke auch Nichthundebesitzer haben ihren Spaß. Und keine Angst vor dem englischen Text. Es ist so geschrieben, dass man auch mit Schulenglisch gut dranbleiben kann. Empfehlenswert.

Bei einer so knappen Länge möchte ich vermeiden, genau auf den Inhalt einzugehen und stattdessen eine absolute Leseempfehlung aussprechen! Diese Geschichte ist nicht nur brilliant geschrieben, sie ist auch voller Wendungen, Überraschungen und toller Ideen. Kafkaesk mit einer gehörigen Prise Lovecraft wird die Leserin in eine Welt gezogen, deren Fokus mir zumindest fremd war. Geschickt wird durch tolle Charaktere und vor allem Dialoge Spannung aufgebaut! Für mir ein absolutes Must-Read!

This was the oddest story I've ever read. It had the potential. Just not the follow through. It should make the author happy, I bought two books, thankfully I'm not writing books.

I am still flashed by this story. Good things really do come in small packages! I picked it up because the cover reminded my of David Pelham’s design for “A Clockwork Orange” and I like dogs. The first sentence drew me in… I liked the idea of “being parked at the shabby side of the center of the universe“. Would be a great bumper sticker in my opinion. Anyhow, I can’t really put into words why I liked this story so much. Maybe it’s just because you don’t read something like it every day.

Eine nette Kurzgeschichte für Zwischendurch, die absurd-komisch beginnt und sich dann etwas zu viel vornimmt. Von jetzt auf gleich wird die Geschichte um einiges düsterer und greift ein Thema auf, dass in so einer Kürze nicht ausreichend behandelt werden kann. Wenn man dies jedoch ignoriert, ist die Geschichte gut gelungen und es wert gelesen zu werden - es dauert ja auch nicht all zu lang.

Eine rührende, kurze Geschichte über einen Schiedsrichter eines Hundewettbewerbes, der einen einzigartigen Hund kennenlernt. Er trifft dort eine alte Freundin, der er wieder näher kommen möchte. Die Story ist schön und flüssig geschrieben und hat eine tolle, interessante Wendung.

Das Cover finde ich sehr schön gestaltet worden. Dieses helle Blau und Geld dazwischen und dann der etwas leicht abstrakte Hund im Vordergrund. Gefällt mir sehr gut.

Diese Geschichte ist sehr flüssig geschrieben und zieht einen sofort in den Bann. Die Geschichte erzählt, das mein Hund eine spezielle Bindung zu mir hat und nicht nur als ein Haustier gezählt werden kann. Er ist viel mehr, mein Beschützer. Ich habe auch Hunde, wahrscheinlich finde ich deshalb das Buch so gut.

Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass so ein kurzes Büchlein, inhaltlich so gut sein kann. Der Ansatz ist originell, interessant und inspirierend! Es gab mir ein gutes Gefühl. Es hat Spaß gemacht, die Geschichte zu lesen, auch wenn am Ende ein Paar Fragen offen bleiben. Ich könnte mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass es einen Nachfolger geben würde. Den würde ich mir sofort kaufen.

The author has done a fantastic job of writing this short story that will totally immerse you into this new world but still familiar world and capture all your attention and have you super excited to know what the next page brings.
This short story is about a disgraced dog show judge, Clement, who was asked to step into the judge arena to become a last minute judge at the dog show to save his ex-wife Edith that left him under peculiar circumstances. The story takes us on a wild ride filled with love, hope, renewed trust in humanity.
One of the things I loved most about this short story was the very first part, the writing style and the conversation style was just intriguing. I did not know what was going on in the story but I knew I had to find out. The supernatural undertone of the story was so welcoming and unexpected yet delightful and I am glad about the way the story ended.
I wish the story could have been longer because that way the Hunts would have been demystified some more but overall this was a lovely story to read and i would give it 4 stars out of 5.

This story draws you in quite quickly and brings to the light the incredible idea of how your dog has a deeper, more meaningful purpose in your life. Not by chance, but intentionally – that’s what he’s meant to do from day one. Ever thought that your dog has entered your life with a certain purpose? Neither have I. Personally, I always thought it simply happens because you decide to get a dog. Instead you get to have a loyal pal who understands you beyond words.
This book reminded me that I shouldn’t underestimate a short read, because it might contain meaningful ideas. This is exactly what I enjoyed when reading this book. The approach is original, interesting and inspiring! At the same time, it gives out a positive vibe and a lot of hope. By the end, you feel like the story could easily flow into the next chapter – a promising one!

The Marvelous Misfits of Westminster is a short and well-written book that follows a group of people and their unique breed of dogs. I found the story imaginative and ended the book wanting to know more! The romance between Edith and Hal makes you wonder what else is in their backstory. Was there a child? If so, what happened? The mysterious couple who show up at the dog show insisting their dog is a rare breed brings a quirky element to the story. I rather enjoyed reading Hal’s discomfort at the couple’s appearance and their insistence that their dog must win. But, what was the shadow that was chasing Edith? What about Hope? What exactly is so special about these dogs?

I am looking forward to the next book (if this will part of a series) to find out what happens next! A good book for someone who wants a short but imaginative story.

The "Marvelous Misfits of Westminster" was incredible! While reading, I was thrilled on so many levels: lots of cool ideas, intriguing characters that gained depth quickly, and a complex plot that’s intellectually challenging in just the right way. Kudos! I continuously wanted to figure out how all the storylines are connected. When I finally did, it was a very satisfying feeling. Something happened that rarely happens to me when reading books: I had goosebumps. This book is really worth the read!

Who doesn’t need a quick story about a hero dog? The premise sounded intriguing but I will admit that I was a little confused after reading the first page. Nonetheless I pushed on with high hopes, and I was hugely rewarded. In fact, when I finished it, I felt a little in awe, as so much could be read into the deeper meaning of the shadows that needed to be killed. The characters were described beautifully and I could picture exactly how the Hunts as well as Irving looked. The idea behind the help that is offered and how it gets shared throughout the years is really clever. I will probably never look at a dog in the same way again!
