One thing Lauren Layne does so well is she writes characters that have great female friendships and also family (found or biological) and that theme continues here. This book was all about Gracie. Her struggles with self, family, friends, etc but it was in no way heavy; just a really fun read. I liked her a lot, as I did everyone that was around her. Sebastian was also cool but I wish we had a little more insight into his thoughts. My two minor quibbles would be: 1. the lack of any heat (sobs). 2. The scene at the end where Gracie got ready for a main event felt soo jarring to me like I felt the 2 main characters would not behave like that. Overall, an enjoyable read. "Perpetually cheerful and eager to please, Gracie Cooper strives to make the best out of every situation. So when her father dies just five months after a lung cancer diagnosis, she sets aside her dreams of pursuing her passion for art to take over his Midtown Manhattan champagne shop. She soon finds out that the store's profit margins are being squeezed perilously tight, and complicating matters further, a giant corporation headed by the impossibly handsome, but irritatingly arrogant Sebastian Andrews is proposing a buyout to turn the store into a parking garage. But Gracie can't bear the thought of throwing away her father's dream like she did her own. Overwhelmed and not wanting to admit to her friends or family that she's having second thoughts about the shop, Gracie seeks advice and solace from someone she's never met-the faceless "Sir", with whom she connected on a blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos. But although Gracie finds herself slowly falling for Sir online, she has no idea she's already met him in real life...and they can't stand each other"-- Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Meanwhile they are both on a dating app where singles connect through messages before exchanging names or photo's. I think you can see where this is going. Although this was a very predictable story I still really enjoyed it. I felt like the characters were well developed and relatable. I also liked the family dynamics and could really see bits of my own sibling relationships in their interactions.
The book has the texts from the dating app interspersed and I liked the way they were written in more of an old fashioned style.
There was some content issues though, there is a lot of sexual innuendo and although there are never any sex scenes there are a lot of sexual comments and one of the characters likes to wear strange earrings sometimes of male genitalia.
There were also 15 uses of blasphemy, s**t 3 times and d**n 8 times.
Overall a sweet story.
