"A wholesome, slow-burn romance that will warm your heart...This is a Hallmark movie in book form." - USA Today bestselling author Helen Hoang
What happens when your love life becomes the talk of the town?
As birthdays go, this year's for radio producer Everly Dean hit rock-bottom.
Worse than the "tonsillectomy birthday." Worse than the birthday her parents decided to split (the first time). But catching your boyfriend cheating on you with his assistant?
Even clichés sting.
But this is Everly's year! She won't let her anxiety hold her back. She'll pitch her podcast idea to her boss.
There's just one problem.
Her boss, Chris, is very cute. (Of course). Also, he's extremely distant (which means he hates her, right? Or is that the anxiety talking)?
And, Stacey the DJ didn't mute the mic during Everly's rant about Simon the Snake (syn: Cheating Ex).
That's three problems.
Suddenly, people are lining up to date her, Bachelorette-style, fans are voting (Reminder: never leave house again), and her interest in Chris might be a two-way street. It's a lot for a woman who could gold medal in people-avoidance. She's going to have to fake it 'till she makes it to get through all of this.
Perhaps she'll make a list: The Ten Rules for Faking It.
Because sometimes making the rules can find you happiness when you least expect it.
"Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down." - Lyssa Kay Adams, author of The Bromance Book Club… (altro)

So, I made it to my 80-book goal and I am so happy that this is my last book of the year. Sophie Sullivan you made me laugh out loud and made my sister think I have lost my mind with this read and for that I thank you. Have you ever felt like a book just gets you? Ten Rules for Faking It is a romcom with a great deal of substance along with the expected witty banter and funny situations, and it totally gets me.
What I loved was the banter between all the characters. The inner monologs that had me snorting while in bed reading and for the record, I want my own Stacey. I love the way that Everly tries to break her norms and get past her anxiety to find a better version of herself. Hello Chris awesome job for knowing when to say all the right things and to understand a girl. This book gave me all the feels. I loved the attraction, undeniable chemistry and slow-burn romance between radio producer Everly Dean and her station manager Chris Jansen. I will for sure accept this rose and read anything by Sophie Sullivan hands down. Now go read this book my best friend is already getting a copy.

Sigh, I've been shying away from two-starring recently but this was really a slog. Great depiction of anxiety, but that's about the only good quality. The instalove was insta before the book even started and everything was very fairy tale. ( )

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

Everly Dean is not happy about her 30th birthday especially after she brings breakfast to her boyfriend Simon to surprise him. Unfortunately, the surprise was on her to find he wasn’t in bed alone. She is grateful for her busy job as radio show producer at 96.2 SUN since she works with her best friend Stacey Ryan. Of course, her birthday continued to go downhill once she begins to share her humiliation with Stacey, a deejay at the SUN, who inadvertently provides another surprise! Poor Everly’s rant was broadcasted on live radio as Stacey thought singing Happy Birthday on air would be fun for her anxiety ridden friend. Everly decides she needs to make a list for her life beginning with staying at home on her birthday.

Chris Jansen, the station manager transplanted to San Verde, CA from NY to improve the ratings, sends Everly home to avoid further embarrassment. Listeners begin calling and messaging their comments and support regarding the event. Nathaniel Jansen, Chris’s controlling father had bought the radio station to turn a profit. Chris has his own life plan for success which includes proving himself to his father.

In an attempt to save the station from his father’s threat to fire Everly and Stacey for their “dead air” debacle, he pitches a Bachelorette type stunt. Everly agrees to go on these vetted dates voted on by listeners hoping to overcome her extreme social anxiety. It all seems to be going according to plan until she realizes that she might have feelings for the one person with whom she should avoid. It doesn’t help that Chris seems to be spending more time taking and confiding in her.

This is a fun and quirky story of the trials and tribulations of life and how to make lemonade out of lemons. ( )

2022 pandemic read. Why do I do this to myself?

This was enjoyable, easy to read, and a quick read! I found myself laughing along with the characters and could totally relate to Everly Dean and her anxiety.

The opening scene was a bit cringeworthy, but the book did get better if you can get past this one part.

Thank you for allowing me to read it and give my honest opinion.
