Ben Clanton has done it once again with the fifth installment of the Narwhal and Jelly series! Happy Narwhalidays is so wonderfully pun-tastic and the illustrations are as adorable as ever. I hope that Ben Clanton continues to write this amazing series!

Narwhal is so happy for "tis the season" and can't wait for the magic to be spread by the mythical mermicorn this year, while Jelly remains skeptical but eager to please a friend.

Narwhal and Jelly is a popular series in every library I've worked, but this is the first time I finally decided to check one of the books out. It was cute and funny, so I can definitely see the appeal for kids. While it is a graphic novel, it's simpler in design and text than some others, making it just a step past early reader.

This particular title was clearly a Christmas one, although it refrains from actually using the word "Christmas," substitutes a gift-giving mermaid/unicorn hybrid for Santa, and swaps the lyrics of popular carols to have fish-y puns. In fact, puns play a large part in the text, including a Hanukkah-based one. I don't know if that's typical for this series, but the cheesy puns were definitely a big plus in this title for me and had me chuckling sometimes. The friendship between Narwhal and Jelly was also particularly sweet. ( )

Ahhhhhhhhh. I know I say that every time, but these books just make me so happy. I love the innocence and fun of Narwhal and Jelly. I love the puns and the play on words, and how these two friends think of each other and help each other out. This is another stellar book in a stellar series. ( )
