Another great mystery with William Monk, Hester Latterly and Oliver Rathbone. A very intriguing tale to find out what happened to Angus Stonefield. Was it Caleb Stone? If so, where’s the body?
In the midst of this case, Monk is distracted by Drusilla Wyndham. What is she up to? (

From the first chapter I concluded what had happened, and was right. No surprises. But still plenty to enjoy in the characters. Sideline story: Monk, the detective still trying to piece together his life after a bout of amnesia, comes up against a new threat of a woman trying to ruin him, and he cannot at all remember why. Meanwhile, his relationship with Hester, the Crimean nurse, is becoming increasingly frustrating, and he dare not admit even to himself why he is always so harsh with her. All this while they are investigating the disappearance of a wealthy businessman who went to visit his evil twin brother in the bad side of town. (

Another great book in the William Monk series, I have to confess that I didn't call it until about three pages before the end by which time I'm sure it was obvious to everyone. The strange thing about reading a series from the beginning when there are considerable novels published already is that you can't help wondering when things are going to happen in the slowly building storyline, I won't post spoilers but I'm sure sure fellow readers know what I'm talking about. I love Anne Perry's way with words and she really bring the Victorian era to life. I began reading her short Christmas novellas and really enjoyed them so it seemed a natural choice to jump into a longer series. (

El marido de Genevieve Stonefield, Angus, lleva desaparecido tres días cuando ella decide visitar al detective Monk. La mujer está convencida de que ha sido asesinado por Caleb, hermano gemelo de su esposo, pues la relación entre ambos ha llegado a ser violenta. Pero Monk no está dispuesto a admitir que se haya cometido un asesinato ni a señalar a un culpable, aunque lo cierto es que Angus parece haberse esfumado.
