Apart from the fact there's like a million characters and if you don't read these in order you have no hope of figuring out who's who (and even if you do you're still screwed), these books significantly overlap with one another. It's more prominent with the last two books because the main characters all interact with each other so much. In this one, the story of Blake and Owen is continued because the main character in this Shay is Blake's best friend and Jamie is Blake's son. And the story itself is run parallel to Blake and Owen's. You see the other side of things from Jamie's view and when Blake and Owen go to tell Shay and that.

This was a bit funnier and more enjoyable than book 2 but it still didn't hold a candle to book 1. The age gap in this one didn't bother me as much as it did in book 2 - it helped Shay not having a son and that neither of them referred to each other as daddy. The relationship between Shay and Jamie was pretty easy going if anything I was happy it just being casual between them. While I liked them together and thought they had some chemistry I don't know that I particularly bought them falling in love. And when they were it just seemed really sudden and out of place.

Sunny (Blake's mother) was funny with her pot brownies. On the other hand I was disappointed with the backstory of Shay's coming out to his parents and them just ignoring him. At least Sunny had his back and kicked them into line.

I'm not sure if I'll bother to continue with this series. None of the other stories really grab me so 50/50. Overall 2 stars, maybs 2.5. ( )
