Humor in romance and humor in fantasy fail so often for me that it was a delightful shock to come across an author who writes so precisely to my funny bone in both genres at once. Talk about magic. :) This is definitely in the miscommunication trope, but there's so much going on all the time that you almost can't blame them for being such idjits. Highly, highly recommended. 2.5 barely there stars While there are definite bones for a strong story here, those bones were not built upon to make a compelling enough story. The relationship between the MC, Nate, and his werewolf mate, Ian, was totally based on sex and not much else, no matter what the main character says. Sorry, but longing glances from one party (Ian) does not a romantic duo make. Admittedly, Nate was under a good deal of duress during his childhood and teens from a very abusive father, so it's not like he had much energy to waste on other things in his life, but there's really no indication that Nate had much in the way of feelings for Ian from before the narrative starts, so all the "I love yous" in the world at this point are not all that convincing. As for the rest of it, I liked Charlie and Dor, the vampire and his magical portal making bodyguard and, perhaps, more? Now that's a pair I'd like to have a story about! More background about just why, beyond being rival packs, the Armitages and Kimballs are at each other's throats would have been nice. Also, a good deal more world building too. There's no real sense that there's a wider world outside the boundaries of Ian's "Shack of Solitude" and Charlie's cocktail lounge. They're more like set pieces in a play rather than interconnected parts of a bigger world. A KU read, thankfully. Short, easy to read, definitely didn’t regret spending time on this but it’s also not anything special. There’s a lot of bickering between the love interests, which didn’t annoy me but is something I personally don’t like. I never felt like we actually got to see them fall in love with each other so the connection did seem a bit superficial. The writing wasn’t bad and I would read something else by this author, but I doubt I’ll continue with this particular series. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Cursed, mated, and in for the fight of their lives… Warlock Nate Hawthorne just wants a cup of coffee. Is that too much to ask? Apparently. Because instead of precious caffeine, all he gets is cursed by a pack of werewolves who want to use him for his magic. Now the only way to fix the damage is a mate bond to a grumpy and oh-so-sexy alpha in the rival pack, who happens to hate him. This is so not how he wanted to start his day. Ian Armitage never intended to take Nate as his mate. The Hawthorne family can't be trusted. Ian knows that better than anyone. The fact that he's lusted after the way-too-gorgeous man for years? Totally irrelevant. Ian's just doing what is necessary to protect his pack. This whole mating arrangement has nothing to do with love and never will. That's his story and he's sticking to it. Nate and Ian will have to work together if they have any hope of staving off the pack's enemies and averting disaster. That's assuming they can stop arguing (and keep their hands off each other) long enough to save the day… Contains mature themes. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

The main character is snarky an hell, which I absolutely love. Also, I always love me a good "have sex or die" trope, and also the "stuck together" trope, and the author did an amazing job with them both! Definitely looking forward to the next one, absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves urban fantasy and dicks with knots ;P ( )
