This was a sweet romance set at Christmas in a small town in NY. The characters were very interesting and I loved the banter between the two main characters. The plot was fairly cookie cutter (pardon the pun!) but still enjoyable. There was a lot that made it seem like we missed an earlier book but we didn't. Maybe the author is setting it up to write a series going backwards? Overall a very pleasant read.

"Christmas at Maplemont Manor" presents the reader with a humorous and touching holiday story, featuring two main characters who finally find each other. Noelle manages a bakery in Maplemont, returning to her hometown after travels overseas honing her craft as a pastry chef. Grant arrives in Maplemont as the spoiled wealthy owner of Maplemont Manor. After a hilariously bad beginning, Noelle and Grant get to know more about each other as they work together on community Christmas events. Despite mishaps and misunderstandings, Noelle and Grant finally find their happy ending.

The lovable characters and enjoyable time of year make this novel a perfect holiday choice. Although readers may become frustrated with the main characters at times, the situations are realistic and entertaining. The book chapters feature holiday themed titles, which accompany the action of each chapter very well. (This book would make a great Hallmark classic Christmas show.)

This clean read is suitable for families to enjoy, as it contains no harsh language, sexual situations, or violence.
