An anthology of alternative comix filled mostly with doodles, meanders, and other bits of pointlessness.
The stand-out stories:
• "The Cherry Season" by El Don Guillermo
A photographer and a model argue about their photo shoot and draw the attention of an elderly neighbor, making an unexpected connection with her.
• "Between December and March" by Kurt Ankeny
Blah blah blah angst and family drama is supported by very nice colored-pencil art.
• "Prima Materia" by Kate Lacour
An intriguing retelling of Pinocchio with a religious angle.
FOR REFERENCE:
Contents: Yellow Slip / Theo Ellsworth -- Sasha / Tommi Parrish -- The Cherry Season / El Don Guillermo -- Au Jour D'Hui / James Romberger -- The Tonguebard Cycle / Chris Wright -- Between December and March / Kurt Ankeny -- Exercise 08 / María Medem -- Prima Materia / Kate Lacour -- The Boy Who Wanted to Laugh / Keren Katz -- Fred Is Fried / Nick Thorburn -- I'm Punk Now / Noah Van Sciver -- Learning Is Fun with Sammy the Seal / Nathan Cowdry -- Now / Nick Thorburn ( )
