Roger Martin du Gard won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1937 yet he is unread today, which after reading this novel I think is a shame. This is autobigoraphy novel, very much in the tradition of Proust, except unfortunely he died before finishing the novel(s). 3/4 of the book gets the main character to early adulthood, I think the book basically finished after his first love affair. The last 1/4 is parts of what he wanted to do. Some of the writing, in fact alot of the writing, is as good as anything I've read. There are some wonderful observations about character, marriage, love, life in this book. I highly recommend Roger Martin Du Gard's work. I am looking forward to reading more of his novels nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

180 - foutloos is.
