Captain Maddox Stone is ready to put the men who messed with his family on the train bound for elimination. Eliminating the enemy is the only thing he’s good at anyway. Lieutenant River Seeger has returned to the Triple R ranch when his grandfather calls him for help. With no other recourse, he returns but makes it clear it’s only for a limited time. He’s left the past behind and with it, his youthful dreams. Since he’s here, shouldn’t he at least see Maddox and try to get some answers? Two soldiers faced with the past. One man struggles with a tragic secret while the other one demands answers. What’s even worse... When Maddox deploys on a mission and River takes on the kidnappers, time is running out for at least one of them, maybe both. The only thing for certain is they’re definitely, as the title say...cutting it close. The two leads seemed well suited to each other though there wasn't a whole lot of alone time for them to deal with their issues. While I don't care for, this is one that the angst level could have been ramped up a lot. It was just barely touched on. Everything was wrapped up way too quickly and neatly when you consider what the two leads will have to deal with in the future. At least they are happy and they are together in a much safer job. ( )
