It is not focused on science specifically but focuses on math, science, and inventions/technology together. I would love to read this book in the classroom because it hits on how the women did all of the work to invent that computer but the men were congratulated, as is the case for many inventions. I think this would make my students curious about other inventions and who is behind them, and this could lead them to read other books similar to this one which I know exist. Secondly, this inspires students to keep trying at something that seems impossible because with the work of a team they might eventually accomplish the goal, which relates to the habits of mind practices and good science practice in general. ( ) This book is suitable for intermediate grades. It is about three women who create a computer during World War II. It displays the true historical facts of these three women and how this computer helped with the war effort. I would use this in my classroom as a way to empower my students that girls are capable of being engineers and belong in the math world. I would also use as a history lesson to display how and why one of the earliest computers were created. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
