Not really a fan of this one; both Chloe and Oliver were pretty annoying to me with their constant taunting and antagonism, and all the time flashes to the past were not doing a good job of showing character development. I did like reading about their trip to the island because even though I was born and raised in MI, we never went there. Book 2 of the Cloverfield Farms, I was not disappointed. I adored Chloe in book 1 and couldn't wait until someone knocked her over and made her lose control. Oliver does just that. I loved this book so much I couldn't put down--one sitting read! I was sad when I devoured every word. Growing up Chloe and Oliver were always forced together since their mothers are best friends and they were born days apart. They always had this sort of struggle--close but not too close. They would spin or orbit around each other. They shared their first kiss, went to Prom, and Chloe lost her virginity to Oliver and numerous other significant moments. But they never dated--well not officially. After a weekend in Chicago together, Chloe refuses to even speak Oliver's name. If she wants to open a whiskey distillery on her family's farm, she has to work with and shadow Oliver at his Detroit distillery, Brown Eyed Girl. Oliver needs Chloe. He has always needed her. His life is incomplete without her. He ran away from her because of how deeply he feels for her. Years running around the world didn't simmer his feelings for her. He needs her to also help him save his company--a company they created together in that Chicago hotel that they should have started together years ago. If he plays his cards right, he can save his company and get his forever girl at the same time. Now if he can keep his family at a distance long enough to explain things to her before they push him. Will Chloe understand or help him? Or will she run from him like he did to her? 4.4 stars Months ago, someone asked about this book just based off what the blurb was. No one could recall the name of the book but everyone had wanted to read it. So, imagine my surprise when this popped up on my recommendation list and it was the infamous book that had intrigued me. I appreciated the then and now parts of the story as it helped explain the connection between Chloe and Oliver. I both liked and didn't like the characters. They at time seemed immature. However, I enjoyed the story itself and the premise that these two were destined to be together. Long before they even knew it themselves. I look forward to anything this author writes. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"When we were eleven, Oliver Ford Pemberton dared me to jump off a barn roof. He said you couldn't break a leg from a 12-foot jump. He lied. (You can also break a collarbone, which served him right as far as I was concerned.) I wish I could say it was the last dare I ever took from him, the last bet I ever made with him, the last time I ever *trusted* Oliver Ford Pemberton. But it wasn't. Because he had the nerve to grow up gorgeous, charming, and sexy. And as we got older, the dares only got dirtier -- and the betting stakes higher -- until finally, he left me in pieces. I swore I'd never talk to him again. But twenty years after I took that flying leap, he's back in my life, daring me to risk everything for my job, my self-worth, and my heart. How many chances does true love deserve?"-- Back cover. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

There's a mixture of both the past and the present, showing Chloe and Oliver's years to when they did hook up with one another. And also there was some big shocking things that happened.
One of them being what happened in Chicago, which is when Oliver ditched Chloe to go to Europe, and the other big one is Oliver wasting his money and faking an engagement to Chloe so he could have the rest of his Grandmother's money.
In the end, Oliver does apologize for it, all is forgiven. Chloe also is going to take over the Cloverleigh Farm, since her father plans to retire.
Overall, it was an enjoyable and good story. I will admit that there were a few small issues I did have in regards to the later half, but I still loved it.
I'm a bit surprised that Meg is going to be next, since I thought it would be April, but I am curious with how her story is going to go. ( )
