I do like this series, but it's interesting to see each author's and illustrator's take on the pattern.  This entry is more about famous people & inventions, and less about what it means to live in Iowa or call the state home.  And that's fine: educational for young Iowans and for readers elsewhere in the nation.  I, personally, wish it was more contemporary and grounded, though, as I'm trying to decide if I truly want to follow my dream of retiring to Ames (or a smaller town near it).
