When her wild orangutan baby heads off into the jungle, blithely oblivious both to the danger around her and to the chaos she is leaving behind, Mama sets off in pursuit. Eventually, after all of the jungle inhabitants have been disturbed, she catches up with her Wild Baby. Will she stay angry, or will Baby manage to make things better...?

A sweet story of an active, happy baby who (like so many babies, of so many species) causes lots of trouble, Wild Baby pairs a simple but engaging rhyming text with colorful, cute illustrations. The ending offers reassurance to young listeners that, despite their annoying antics, they will still be loved. ( )

This book reminds me of my own wild free range children. I love it! The pictures contain such exciting, scary adventures with a beautiful ending. The illustrations bring on the exhilaration and flush of having, or being a "wild child" in the great outdoors. My preschool Story Time kids loved it! ( )

"Wild baby" ventures just out of its mama's reach on a risky jaunt through the jungle, tracking a beautiful blue butterfly. In the end, it is caught - safe, but scolded - and able to show mama its prize. Little sub-plots within the illustration reveal other mama animals saving their babies from danger. The text is extremely minimal; this could almost be a wordless book.

"Digital ink" used for the illustrations, but it looks wonderfully natural - like soft charcoal pencil outlines and soft colors, mainly green for the jungle foliage and red-brown for the primates.
