An Amish courtship no one expected...But is he too good to be true? To prove she has a fun side, ultraserious Lovey Stutzman accepts her sister's dare: a buggy ride with Hickory Grove's most handsome Amish bachelor. Lovey has some self-esteem issues, thinking she is not pretty enough to attract a beau. Though tall and gangly, she is still lovely with her nut-brown hair and green eyes. Marshall certainly thinks so the very first time he sees her. He doesn’t help his case, though, since he asks her to marry him within moments of meeting her! This story’s interesting plot has these two protagonists quipping and sparing at each other, as Marshall pursues Lovey while she is keeping him at arm’s length. But just as she realizes she is in love with him, something happens that changes Marshall’s mind. It’s quite a well written and an entertaining Amish romance, complete with a sprinkling of humor, and hopefully, a happy ending. ( )

When Lovey Stutzman’s accepts her sister’s dare to take a buggy ride with Marshall Byler, she didn’t realize that she was about to embark on a road to a happy future.

However, the studious Amish woman would rather attend to her family and their business. Besides, Lovey has a beautiful younger sister and cannot accept the fact that Marshall is truly interested in her.

This was a very touching story. Lovey is a beautiful, responsible woman who believes love is for everyone else. As drawn as she is to Marshall she can’t see experiencing love in her future.

Quite naturally this is a clean romance, but it is very effective. I felt very drawn to the characters. Both Lovey and Marshall were really special. I especially loved how Marshall proposed marriage every time they were together. Lovey’s sister Ginger could be a pain, but I did like her and really hope that one day she gets her own story.

There were other well-developed characters in this story. Lovey’s parents were just too sweet and I enjoyed their story as well. This warm story was a delightful read and has a wonderful conclusion.

Many thanks from Love Inspired and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion. ( )

Laugh out loud delightful are the first words that come to mind about this book.
A man who knows his mind, and a young Amish woman who has low self-esteem, and we get to see who wins!
The author has given us a strong woman who loves her family, and being her mother’s oldest has been given a lot of responsibilities through the years, including getting a home ready for sale in a different state.
The we have a young man given the responsibility of raising his younger brother and caring for his grandmother.
Has fate put them together, or has God put this on their hearts? We get a front seat and this quickly became a page turner for me, and a sense of loss once the last page was there.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )

“The Amish Spinster’s Courtship” by Emma Miller tells the story of an Amish woman named Lovage and how she finds a spouse. I liked the idea that Lovage is not a cute young woman flirting with Amish young hunks. Lovage is a mature lady who is quite happy to be on her own, assisting in her family’s business and helping manage a large blended family. The novel details the progress of her newly-developing relationship with a mature Amish man. They are not without their trials and heartaches, but manage to work through them together and learn a lot about themselves and each other in the process.

I read a lot of novels about Amish people, and this was a standout. The characters are well-developed and multidimensional, portrayed honestly and like real people with problems and questions. The large Amish family to which Lovage belongs is interesting in their own right, and present an intriguing subplot to the story of Lovage. This book ranks right up there as one of my favorites. I am looking forward to reading more novels by Emma Miller.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own. ( )

Emma Miller is an author of many types of Amish books, mainly straight on romances. I may not have read them all, but the ones that I have read have never received less than a 4-star rating from me and this book is no exception.

I giggled while reading this book and I cried too -and I can say that it takes an exceptional book to bring out that much emotion in me.

There is very little sermonizing in this book but it is a very clean romance (naturally) so if you are hesitant to read this because of its religious overtones -don't be. I am the least religious person you will have ever met and I love these books. Ms. Miller does a fine balancing act mixing a bit of religion with the everyday.

The main plot is one that you expect -confident boy meets a shy and slightly awkward girl, the boy immediately takes a liking to the girl, there is a huge misunderstanding that eventually gets straightened out and we have our HEA! There is a slight secondary plot concerning Loveys mother and a pregnancy and that was interesting. I only wish the author had given a tad more story over to that.

This book is well worth the time that is taken to read.
