In the fourth book in the frog series, Frog does not want to go to sleep! He is so excited that it is winter and he will get to play in the snow, until Owl informs him that frogs hibernate until the spring. He tries to convince his friends just like a child would when they do not want to go to bed. He comes up with a clever way for them all to “hibernate”. I would recommend this cute and funny story for readers who are fans of the other three in the series. Frog is a sweet and loveable character that children will relate to. The illustrations are colorful and large and will keep the readers interest throughout the story. ( ) There are plenty of bedtime books, but Frog isn't protesting just one night of sleep - he's suppose to hibernate in the mud under the pond all winter! That means he'll miss all the winter fun. Owl explains why Frog can't play in the snow ("Ever heard of a snow frog?") or join in any of the other winter activities he's been looking forward to. At last, Frog's friends join him in the mud to make him feel better about having to sleep all winter. Sometimes when an author runs with the same characters/concept for too long, the quality drops off or simply becomes stale, but Dev Petty keeps things as lively and funny as ever.
