This book would be appropriate for primary readers (although some may need extra help with the vocabulary as they use some old English). This book is about a prince who plants words (seeds). The kind words grow green trees and the mean words grow dark twisty trees. The prince soon discovers that the mean words (trees) were not easy to get rid of and overtook the nice words (trees). Eventually, he is able to find a kind friend to help him get rid of the mean words (trees) and save the kind words (trees). This book would be excellent for units on kindness or about the permanency of disrespectful or hurtful words. This book was about the main character who has seeds and loves to plant the seeds and grow. The illustrations in this book show all the trees he’s planted, with the beautiful colors and lots of leaves on each tree! He plants his trees next to each other so each tree blends so beautifully next to one another. This is a fantastic book with a great message and tackles an important problem in schools and the world in general. It deals with the overall problem of bullying, and through the story encourages readers to embrace love and positivity. I really like that this story helps and encourages students to offer kindness not only to others, but to themselves. This book was inspired by the work of Dr. Brene' Brown and Dr. Caroline Leaf, about the power of words to impact our lives and the lives of others. The story encourages readers to plant positive seeds (instead of negative seeds) through their use of words that promote love and healing with others. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"[The story of] a young prince who grows up giving and receiving seeds (words). He faithfully plants and waters those seeds daily, until they grow to become very powerful trees. Later, with the help of a friend, he is able to cut down and uproot the bad ones and then replant good seeds in their place"--Preliminary page. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I absolutely love the main title page - the flowers, thorns and bird are absolutely stunning. The art style felt unique yet beautiful, which is something I crave in picture books. I love seeing different art styles that connect with the story.
An added touch was the letter from the author at the beginning. As a child, I probably would have skipped by it and not cared in the least, but as an adult I like reading into the mind of the author. Seeing the reasons behind the story is always a little pleasure of mine!
The story itself worked well with the art style. The contrasting There was a bit of a rhyming scheme at certain points of the story, but it didn't feel super forced.
The theme and story itself tells a really important tale about positive vibes. I definitely think this book would be a great read for parents to bond with their children or for a school to pick up. I could see young classrooms picking this story apart and telling great tales!
Five out of five stars!
