"From Liberty to Magnolia: In Search of the American Dream is written for Americans from all walks of life who care deeply about how our great nation can become even greater if we boldly and courageously face our internal, crippling, and unnecessary fear--the fear that we stand to lose rather than gain by embracing and extending mutual respect and supporting equal rights and equal opportunity for our fellow citizens regardless of their race or gender."--… (altro)

From Magnolia to Liberty is an inspiring Memoir by an amazing lady! Her life and efforts is a tribute to not only the Black Community and Women, but is an example to all!

Her detailed story of her "beginnings" to present, is very enlightening and motivational.

Growing up as a granddaughter and daughter of preachers, she received a grounded and strongly religious background. Her experiences in listening to the Commentaries of Eric Sevareid and Walter Lippmann as a youth, inspired and influenced her drive to "be all she could be" in future years.

The manner in which she bore her trials during the Civil Rights movement, plus, through other negative attitudes toward her, is very admirable and worthy of emulation.

The information she provides of the formative years beginning in the 1950's to present day is very interesting.

The only negatives are: #1 There was quite a bit of repetition. #2. There was a little too much detail given to captivate the reader's attention. # 3. In conflict with her main message of being open-minded and obtaining all the facts before passing on opinion, was her comment concerning reasons that a woman did not win presidency. The lack of integrity and trust lost he election for that woman. Although there is a large amount of credibility to what she states , on a couple of issues. I felt her words and opinion were extreme.

The Book Title and Cover were very Fitting.

I highly recommend this book to all.

*This book was gifted me with no requirement for a positive review. This is my honest review.
I give this book a strong Four Stars rating. ( )
