Coupled with beautiful illustrations, Marie Curie tells the story of the great scientist and how her discoveries changed the world. Marie was born in Poland but moved to Paris to go to school because at the time women weren't allowed to in Poland. There, she continued to learn and make her way to the top of all her classes just like she did as child. While in France, she met her husband who then became her lab partner. Together they discovered new elements that would help to cure cancer and other diseases even when they were told their findings were wrong. She continued her work even after her husband died and went on to win many awards and make several advances in technology until she died. I really like this book because it teaches many lessons. One, that even though you're a woman you still deserve an education and can be just as smart as a man. Two, to not give up even when you can't find the answer. And three, you never know what you can find until you look. I also enjoy that the book has a glossary for some of the scientific terms and is written so that kids of younger ages can enjoy the story. This book can be an inspiration to future scientists everywhere. ( )

Marie Curie is credited today for her discovery or radium, which is the basis for radiation, a cancer-fighting element. Along with her husband, Pierre, they began research of and discovered two new elements: polonium and radium. Being that her mother and father were both educators, Marie had a penchant for learning new things, but most of all, discovering new things. She became the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in Physics with Pierre. She then became the first person to win the award for a second time, this time in Chemistry. ( )

This book tells a story of one of the greatest scientists that ever lived. Marie Curie, she did not only one Noble prize but two. She was a great person nit only as a scientist, but also as a mother, daughter and wife. I’m very glad that I came across this great book and learned about this great person. As I usually say , people who truly change the world are usually forgotten. ( )
