Fiction. Suspense. Thriller. HTML:

From the bestselling author of Lies comes 29 Seconds, a sensational new thriller that explores what happens when a split second thought of revenge takes on a life of its own.

"Give me one name. One person. And I will make them disappear."

Sarah is a young professor struggling to prove herself in a workplace controlled by the charming and manipulative Alan Hawthorne, a renowned scholar and television host. The beloved professor rakes in million-dollar grants for the university where Sarah worksâ??so his inappropriate treatment of female colleagues behind closed doors has gone unchallenged for years. And Sarah is his newest target.

When Hawthorne's advances turn threatening, she's left with nowhere to turn. Until the night she witnesses an attempted kidnapping of a young child on her drive home, and impulsively jumps in to intervene. The child's father turns out to be a successful businessman with dangerous connectionsâ??and her act of bravery has put this powerful man in her debt. He lives by his own brutal code, and all debts must be repaid. In the only way he knows how. The man gives Sarah a burner phone and an unbelievable offer. A once-in-a-lifetime deal that can make all her problems disappear.

No consequences. No traces. No chance of being found out. All it takes is a 29-second phone call.

Because everyone has a name to give. Don't they… (altro)

I was recommended this book and wasn't told much about it so I actually didn't really know what it was about except that it was suspense and that it was hard to put down. I did have a very hard time putting it down which was why I gave it 3 stars and not 2. Although I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen I didn't enjoy the story. You know how there are some books that as you are reading them you just are really enjoying the journey? This wasn't that book. I was desperately reading hoping that there would be some kind of justice in the end. But the bulk of the story was just really hopeless and discouraging. I do kind of understand that she would have to be completely desperate to make the choices she did and I guess that's what the author was going for but did her husband have to leave her? Could it not have been a good story with him in the picture? I also found Sarah's children to be really annoying.

I think it does make for an interesting conversation of what you would do in her position if you were so desperate. I just wish it hadn't felt like such a heavy and despairing book.
F-word - approx 20, Blasphemy approx 18, other profanity approx 60.
no open door scenes but a few sexual acts are described or alluded to. ( )

Slow, boring, unbelievable crock of crap. The main character (Sarah) is unlikeable, her kids are whiny brats, her husband is out "finding" himself, & her friends don't really connect with her. Sarah is a professor who's boss (Alan) is a sexual predator & harasser. He brings in a lot of money to the university & is famous, blah blah blah. She skips back & forth sniveling about him harassing her but never follows through with reporting him and then thinks to maybe just sleep with him to keep her job. Seriously?!?! Her problems are solved when she witnesses an apparent kidnapping & the victim's father offers her a deal. She can give him one name & he will make the person "disappear" as if they never existed. Sarah isn't really torn on her decision on what to do and sets the wheels in motion which of course derail so she has to make adjustments. Not very believable and the "twist" has been overused. ( )

Sarah rescues a young girl in trouble expecting nothing in return. However the father of the girl wants to repay the debt. Sarah is offered a way out of a tricky situation and decides to take it.

I felt I was getting into a bit of a reading slump. I love thrillers and if a book has a cover indicating a thrilling read I will pick it up. Like everyone else I will either enjoy the book or I won't. Recently I have been reading some thrillers that are just meh. To get me out of a possible slump I picked up this book by T M Logan as I have read one of his books before and enjoyed it.

A also enjoyed this one. It may not be a five star but the story was easy to follow and the book very easy to read. As with most thrillers there were a few twists and one half way through which I didn't see coming.

I did think Sarah made some silly choices and think maybe some of the plot was a bit far fetched but it doesn't matter. The book was a quick snappy read and as thrillers go it was ok.

Not to be taken too seriously but I enjoyed the book and will read more by the author. ( )
