Jane's PayBuddy account is hacked, and somehow she winds up being the recipient of a mail order bride named Natasha.
And if that weren't enough Jane's ex Dorothy is still on Jane's mind and even though it was Dorothy who broke up with Jane, Dorothy too can't stop thinking about Jane.
Add in an ex who is now a PIE (and who helps Jane try and find the one or more people who set this all in motion), and a woman that Dorothy may be getting close with but whom Jane does not like at all, and it's a doozy of a novel.
There was a little mystery in there too which was cool. And even the characters with smaller parts like Doris, as well as Jane's fellow librarians, Elaine, Jake, and Janice were really well written. I thought that they, as well as the patrons, were all really on point (and that doesn't always happen when a story is set in a library, good on Braddock for first-rate research). Even the donut scenes were spot on.
It was a delightful change from a lot of the lesbian fiction out there. It didn't seem as angst-ridden. There were problems, yes, and it wasn't all rainbows and sunshine, but there was a lightness that seemed to weave through even the most down parts of the book.
I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books. ( )
