I've read the other books in this series but honestly I think this one would work as a standalone. Some of the background detail would be lost but otherwise this is quite a strong book in it's own right.

Eve St. Giles has a number of problems. First her sister has taken ill on holidays, then that illness turns into a terrible flu that takes out mostly women and then her ex Nick Petter turns up investigating. He's in the way of her investigation as an epidemiologist. Her extra senses and healing gift are both helping and getting in the way and she doesn't know enough about it to predict whether it's being right or wrong.

I really enjoyed this one, the balance of paranormal and normal was just right for me and I really will have to keep an eye out for more works by this author. ( )
