The Rains on Mars (pub 2017) by Natalia Theodoridou - 2*
It's me, not the story I'm sure. Thankfully the podcast narrator/host said nice summarizing things at the end.
You can listen to the story here: http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/audio_12_17/ The narrator is Kate Baker and her comments are at the very end and go pretty much like this: "We often hear of stories like these in our science fiction where somebody can't hack it due to trauma that is ongoing because of their mission in space or because of previous trauma that they've experienced back home. ... I think it's an excellent study in how the guilt over something can perpetuate the same thing we feel guilty for over and over and over again and without the help of intervention or mental well-being, it's a cycle that is deemed to repeat itself.
Crossing LaSalle by Lettie Prell - 2*
Dystopian but there are "robots". There is a system where dying people can choose to have their brains placed in "new bodies". These are the robots. Our MC isn't dying but she is miserable and wants to be a "new body".
