Note: I received a finished paperback copy from the publisher at ALA Midwinter 2018. It feels like forever since we've had a book about the brave space pets of P.U.R.S.T. After the saga of Binky and his struggles to protect his family from the space aliens (bugs) who live in space (outside), the story expanded to include the wider universe of space pets. We heard the story of Sergeant Fluffy and his brave defense of P.U.R.S.T. headquarters. Now, for the first time ever, we'll hear the story of a non-feline pet - Gordon the dog! The story begins dramatically; the aliens have invaded, Binky is captured, and only Gordon can save the day. Luckily, he's good with technology and has built a time machine to go back in time and fix things.... or will he make things worse? To Gordon's shock, he messes up time and now he's in a time period when he doesn't exist - and when the organization only allowed felines! Then things get worse and Binky never gets to become a space cat! Luckily, friends are friends no matter where you are - or when you are. With some past and future help, Gordon manages to save the day! Spires' distinctive art style may make it hard to tell the different between Binky, with his triangular markings and ears, and Gordon's pale tan triangles. However, readers who have met the characters previously will be delighted to see their old friends again and even new readers can pick up enough of the story along the way to follow along. Verdict: If you don't have the Binky series, you absolutely must go back and purchase them, and then of course you'll need the P.U.R.S.T. titles. Delightfully fun, these are solid additions to any beginning chapter book section. ISBN: 9781771384094; Published May 2018 by Kids Can Press; Purchased for the library Well known graphic artist and author Ashley Spires from the series Binky the Space cat, Fluffy, and picture books like The most magnificent thing, has created yet another character; Gordon. Gordon is a small dog also part of P.U.R.S.T (Pets of the universe Ready for Space Travel) but instead of Physical combat, Gordons strength is his mind. Although he does get distracted rather often, either by a ball, or the word steak. He does have one option to change the alien invasion upon him; the prototype for the time machine. Unfortunately he sets the date to far back and runs out of the very unique, very unavailable fuel after he arrives. An extended book from the Binky series and in the same comic book style brings a hilarious story to the fans who are already familiar with Spires work. This book could be read by itself too. Written AD+ 2nd - 4th grade This elementary Sci Fi graphic novel has pets as the main characters. Gordon uses a time machine to prevent an alien invasion. He goes to the wrong time and runs out of fuel, but he is ingenious enough to solve all his problems with some help from his feline friends. "Gordon: Bark to the Future" was a lot of fun. Readers that enjoy silliness more than serious science will love it. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Agent Gordon's distress calls to P.U.R.S.T. (Pets of the Universe Ready for Space Travel) have gone unanswered. His humans and fellow agents have been captured! He is all alone in the middle of an alien invasion! Gordon's deadliest weapon is his mind, but none of the computers, robots or other devices he's built could have prepared him for this. Or could they ...? Gordon has an idea. But is it too dangerous? The device isn't ready--it's just a prototype! Doggone it, Gordon needs more time!"--Page [4] of cover.
