When she went to the store with her fathers to buy supplies for her birthday party - a costume party, naturally! - she wore her penguin outfit. Although she promised her fathers not to "get carried away," that's exactly what happened when she encountered some real penguins. Would she find her way home again from the South Pole...? The second picture-book from talented author/illustrator Jessie Sima, who made her debut with Not Quite Narwhal, Harriet Gets Carried Away pairs an entertaining, heartwarming tale of a high-spirited girl and her loving family, with cute-as-a-button illustrations. I appreciated the fact that Harriet is the child of same-sex parents (one black, one white) but that this isn't made much of in the narrative. It's just the matter-of-fact reality of her home life - the real story is about getting carried away by penguins! Recommended to Jessie Sima fans, and to anyone looking for engaging new picture-books about feisty girls and the adventures they go on. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
