Even better than Bronx Masquerade. Darrian replaces Tyrone as the "connecting" narrator in this one, and I loved how his character (a future news reporter) created inventive headlines throughout the book. In addition to enjoying the poetry and the process of writing poetry, I learned something. I had no idea that foster care kids are on their own at age 18, often forced to live on the street. There is so much packed into this book, and I found myself crying more than once. I read an ARC, but the official pub date is February 2018. I encourage you to check it out once this book hits the shelves. In fact, I think it would make a great movie. ( )
