I love the spirit of Christmas, so when I saw this book on the shelf, I knew I wanted to read it. Space Elf Sam has just graduated from flying school and will not get to work for Santa Claus until next Christmas. That is until Santa has an emergency and needs Sam to take presents to the children of Alpha One for Christmas morning. Sam hops into his spaceship and sets off. Things are going well until Sam’s spaceship crashes into the planet Gom. The aliens on this planet have never heard of Christmas, so Sam teaches them the spirit of Christmas. Together Sam and the Gom aliens get a Christmas tree with lights and branches; they also choose presents for each other. During this time, the aliens fix Sam’s ship so that he can bring the presents to the children of Alpha One.
I really enjoyed this book because it shows children not to judge people based on first impressions. When Sam crash lands, the aliens take all the presents to their base and bring Sam there as well. Sam believes the aliens are going to take his presents and make him miss Christmas. In reality, the aliens of Gom just wanted to learn about Christmas so they could celebrate too. In the end, it is the aliens that fix the ship so that the children of Alpha One can have Christmas too. ( )

This is a good book to share with older students around Christmas time. This book tells a story of how Space Elf Sam has to make an emergency landing on a planet named Gom. The gommes have never heard of Christmas and they were not use to earth toys. They found gifts for each other and celebrated Christmas themselves thanks to the spirit of Sam. They fixed Sam's ship so he could deliver the gifts to the children of Alfa One.

This book was very good and extremely creative. I loved all of the pictures used in it. I would read this book to an older class, probably boys who are into space ships.
