Very interesting yet simple read for children that want to learn about gardening and composting. I personally chose this book ,because I wanted to know more about compost . The story explains creating and maintaining compost for a garden while being illustrated by beautiful watercolor pictures. Great information in a non expository form! ( )

Apple core, banana peels, bread crust, beans, and leftovers from a meal contribute to compost. The book does a great job of explaining how compost is made, and what type of maintenance is needed. I never made compost, so the book was very interesting, but the only issue that I found in the book was that it did not say for how much time the process of compost happens. For kids I would assign them to make their own compost, and grow some vegetables. ( )

This book was a good way to explain what composting is to children at a young age. The author goes into detail about what composting is and what trash the children in the book put into their box. This book is a great science lesson for the younger readers. I even learned things I didn't know from this book. The author explains to the reader the process of compost and what all it takes to make your very own compost at home. You can put everything you don't use in your compost pile. Then you use the compost as a fertilizer and you have a beautiful garden. ( )
