As he looked at life... ...surrounded by the trappings of success... Austin wondered, is there anything else? He made it to the top. As CEO of an asteroid mining company, Austin has accomplished everything he ever wanted in business. Now, he needs more. To get away he turns to a fantasy video game. Is virtual reality the answer? Should he pick, elf, gnome, caster, or swordsman? He just wants peace and quiet, play as a dwarf, build a house, do some smithing and character building. His idea of the perfect fantasy game. Then he learns their secret. Deceit hides in the shadows. And the truth is all around. Austin will need to level up. If he gets caught, it means death. He'll need help along the way. How can he convince anyone they're slaves in a bigger game and stay under the radar? If Earth was a simulation and the game was real... Who can he trust?… (altro)

Earth is a simulation and Emerilia is the real world. For the people in the simulation they access Emerilia like a game.
The MC bleeds over from Earth to Emerilia and gets help from one of the creators that acts like a god on this world. The whole background somehow made no sense to me - but wasn't to lazy to really look into it.
The MC is of course OP as hell and of course one of the first that took NPCs seriously.
Overall the story was okay. the game system is not really useful - mostly ignored by the MC, the magic of the MC is so overpowered it is boring at times. ( )

First chapter is an exposition dump.

The book had a unique premise, that's about all it had going for it. The writing is horrid. Some of the worst actions scenes I've seen. The author must've intended to split this book into two and then forgot about it seeing as he re-explained everything halfway through.
The game mechanics don't really make sense. you don't show as higher level until you allocate your stat points, because the creator thought that it would be unfair if two same level people were different power levels. But then you can gain stat points from normal trainings, and those don't contribute to level, making the previous point pointless other than for the main character to figure out the "amazing" strategy of not spending stat points so he can use them later when stats are harder to grind.
The players aren't believable either, they're all shocked that the main character is level three even though not leveling up would be what most minmaxing players would do. Nobody other than the main character had even bothered to interact with the npc's beyond quests, has the author never heard of roleplayers?
Overal a good premise that is brought down by the lack of an editor and lack of understanding of gamers. ( )
