A Groundbreaking Approach for Everyone Dealing with the Disease This is an introduction to Alzheimers patient care by entering the patient's world and not expecting them to be in yours. Basically a list of resources and ideas. Several good ones. It was an audiobook so I can't refer back to this easily but I can see that down the road I may want a copy of this to refer to. Also, I would love to see an updated version - this is going on 15 years old. LEARNING TO SPEAK ALZHEIMER’S A Groundbreaking Approach to Everyone Dealing with the Disease Joanne Koening Coste This book offers hundreds of practical tips to ease life for everyone involved with Alzheimer’s, including how to: • Respectfully stop the person from driving • Make meal and bath times as pleasant as possible • Adjust room design and lighting for the person’s comfort • Deal with wandering, paranoia, and aggression • Establish a plan for care nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

More than four million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's, and as many as twenty million have close relatives or friends with the disease. Revolutionizing the way we perceive and live with Alzheimer's, Joanne Koenig Coste offers a practical approach to the emotional well-being of both patients and caregivers that emphasizes relating to patients in their own reality. Her accessible and comprehensive method, which she calls habilitation, works to enhance communication between care partners and patients. By meeting the patients in their own reality, rather than trying to force them to comply with a world they may no longer inhabit, we are able to respond in a way that brings satisfaction and even joy to both patients and caregivers.
