I was a bit confused by the fantasy world, but still enthralled. I'm excited to see it all come together as the series continues. This is great for young graphic novel fans!

I knocked off a star because some of the exposition felt forced and clunky, particularly around page 42 when Oona and Vector meet and suddenly trust each other, make a big discovery, and decide to work together. It felt a bit corny and rushed. But there is so much action and world-building packed into this quick read. It's forgivable. ( )

Kind of a confusing fantasy, but I like the worlds and the art. Seems like a good read-alike for Amulet. ( )

Wonderful, fascinating plot, great characters, excellent foreshadowing.

The plot unfolds with satisfying twists and turns. The introduction of characters proceeds smoothly. The illustrations are gorgeous and detail-filled, a great integration of words and images.

Recommended for lovers of quest fantasies, multiple alien species, and layered mysteries.

Target audience is middle school but suitable for all ages.
