Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Chocolate is better than men, and so are dogs. At least, that's what Dakota Parker tells herself as she mends her broken heart and finds forever homes for rescue animals. So far, so good. She can indulge her love of chocolate where she works while her foster dogs provide her with the unconditional love she craves. What more does she need? Seattle architect Bryce Grayson is counting the days until he can return home to the big city with his father in tow. That is if he can convince his dad to leave Montana. Bryce's escape plan, however, goes astray when he meets Dakota. Her sweet kisses put the chocolate she sells to shame. Maybe he should be the one to move to Marietta, but could he be happy living in such a small town? He has until Thanksgiving to decide.

The most simple of messages delivered in the sweetest possible way. Dakota moved around a great deal. Hard for a kid who just wanted a normal life and a place to call her own. As an adult she settled in Marietta, Montana, a place full of her happiest memories. She runs an animal shelter and finds homes for her babies, the animals she loves. Bryce is a man with a plan. To get to know his father again. To do that he has to convince his
father to move to Seattle. A trip home, an unexpected surprise and a boatload of memories have him rethinking his decision.

A Thankful Heart delivers the sappiness of small town living, but with the wisdom of age comes two important discoveries. In life the blessings are few, but the regrets are endless. Don't waste time focusing on regrets, life is short so make every moment count. ( )

Dakota has had her heart knocked around more than enough and even though she gets involved with Bryce with the full knowledge that it is going to be short-lived, she did not expect to lose her heart once again. Even though he's horrible to her at first Bryce learns to unclench long enough to appreciate all that Dakota has to offer albeit temporarily. In all honesty, Bryce is a real douche! But he's reformable as you will see as the story progresses so I'll let him off the hook.

By the way, is it just me or is it a coincidence that all the male leads in this series are not chocolate lovers? How sad for them.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from NetGalley for voluntary review consideration ( )
