In the tradition of M. T. Anderson's Feed and Scott Westerfeld's Uglies, this heart-pounding sequel to Unplugged continues the series that Kass Morgan, New York Times bestselling author of The 100, called "chilling and addictive." Skylar Cruz found her sister in the Real World--only to learn that her sister has betrayed her and put everyone in the App World in danger. The Body Market is now open for business and everyone still plugged into the App World is for sale. Shaken by the betrayal of everyone she trusted, Skylar is through being a pawn. She may be the only one who can stop what her family started. And she has to do it before the App World runs out of time.… (altro)

The Body Market is a book about a girl named Skyler that unplugged from the app world only to find that her sister was a part of the New Capitalists. The New Capitalists are people that want to remove the bodies of the app world citizens. Rain is the “leader” of the unplugged, he lied to Skyler about everything. Them Skyler is captured by Kit. Kit is going to sell Skyler to get his sister. Skyler convinces him to let her go and in return Skyler must help Kit. once Kit is brought to the unplugged house he is instantly shooed by Rain. Skyler helps the tech people to build an app that will help the plugged in unplug if they want to. To beat Jude (Skyler’s sister) Skyler must make an announcement in the app world. She goes to Rain’s father’s office and makes the announcement. Jude is lurking in the corner and once Skyler finishes the announcement Jude reveals herself. After making a deal that all of the bodies that stay in the app world are Jude’s, Skyler can return home to the unplugged house. Kit goes behind Skyler's back and tells Jude where Skyler is, she is captured. The book ends there.

The Body Market was the best. It is a mystery thriller, I loved the ups and downs. What really left me questioning the series was when Kit revealed Skylers location. If his sister wanted to leave the world wouldn’t she leave? Overall I think this was the best book in the series but there is another book so I might be wrong. ( )

The Body Market by Donna Freitas is the second book in the Wired Series. While this book can be a stand alone read (and a good story all by itself), I really do recommend reading it as a series to capture the full essence of this series. This second book picks up where Unplugged, the first book leaves off and the story is a show stopper! The writing quality is well though out, clear and concise. The plot moves smoothly as the story unfolds. Ms. Freitas did an excellent job in world-building ~ the imagery she writes brings the world to vivid life.

The characters are engaging and as I read this story, it was an emotional roller coaster ride. The only reason it took me a few days to read this book was that I really wanted to savor the experience and real life kept clamoring in and had to be taken care of. 😖

If you haven't had the chance to read The Body Market and Unplugged, I highly recommend it. Book three in this series, The Mind Virus is due out on 12/26/17 and I can't wait to read it!

I received this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own. Thank you to Harper Teen Publishing, Ms. Freitas, and Edelweiss for the opportunity to read and review this book. ( )
