So this book takes place in the same world as Donna Cooner's 'Skinny,' where the main character had to get a gastric bypass because she was so fat people would humiliate her daily. In this book, a fat girl is dating the captain of the football team?

Bland, boring book that didn't really give us a reason to root for anyone. The main character hangs out with her boyfriend twice outside of school and once during school hours and we're supposed to care about their relationship? Also, the storyline about Linden being an aspiring writer felt super tacked on, and the story she ends up writing and winning a contest for is essentially the plot of the movie 'Shrek'?

Also, Donna, I understand you're trying to be inclusive by adding non-white characters into your books, but if you ONLY describe someone's race if they aren't white, it gets a little fishy. Taylor just gets to be 'a cheerleader' but Jayla is a 'tall African-American girl.' Linden is just a girl but Nikki is Filipina. Also writing all non-white characters as all having big bustling homes full of extended family is weird. ( )

This book is about a dating app launched at a high school for spring fling. In my opinion this is not the place to be thinking about dating because everyone will get distracted. ( )
