"Here Be Monsters" is a story of the Grand Warlock of Gramarye, Rod Gallowglass', children: Geoffrey, Cordelia and Gregory. In a strangely happy coincidence, all three are currently engaged to be married. Geoffrey to Quicksilver, an outlaw that has reformed herself and is now an officer in the King's army. Cordelia to the crown Prince, Alain. And scholarly Gregory to Alouette, a reformed seductress/assassin who was sent to destroy the Gallowglass family, but who's now just totally besotten with Gregory. When Gregory and Alouette have a vision of monsters invading Gramarye and laying waste to villages and villagers, the set out on a quest to right the wrongs. What better way to spend the last months of your engagement, right? But it just wouldn't be a party without the rest of the gang - so we end up having the boys and girls out in the countryside in two groups looking for one another and for the monsters and for the source of the monsters. Hilarity ensues.

I was not a big fan of this book. Honestly it seemed to me like a keystone cops meets scooby doo. Some of the monsters seemed somewhat interesting, but for those ones, our heroes needed some kind of external help to defeat or escape. It left me with a bad feeling about the future of Gramarye if it's left in the hands of these folks...
