Children can relate to it by either doing it or having it done to them. It talks about blaming someone else for your mistakes, trying to cover up a lie, and then coming clean to a friend. The character Felix shows what a true friend does which is forgive even when someone does something wrong. It mentions words like stealing, stolen, thieves, snatched, and greedy. This book could easily be added to many themes talking about birthdays, friendships, school, feelings, or values. ( ) Fiona was given the very important task of being Felix's birthday elf, which is the responsibility of bringing cupcakes the next day for a birthday celebration. Although something awful happens, she forgets about the cupcakes, and she feels so badly that she lies and tells Felix they were stolen. She blames three other classmates: Minkie, Bucky and Dimples. Once confronted she confesses and has to apologize to the whole class, luckily Fiona's mom found the sheet sent home and brings cupcakes to the class, even extras. I personally did not like this story, I felt as though even though Fiona lied, her mistake was cleaned up by her mother and there weren't too many consequences for her actions. This makes me feel as though it delivers a message that it's okay to fib because your parents with fix it for you. I would have appreciated an alternate ending where Fiona went home to make the cupcakes and brought them the next day after apologizing for her mistake, especially to the "Terrible Three". nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
