The long-awaited follow-up to the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. The film reveals a Portokalos family secret that will bring the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding.
A very enjoyable sequel to the original film, with the same cast; set 18 years later, made 14 years after the first. Toula and Ian have a seventeen-year-old daughter Paris, who - like her mother - is struggling with the contrast between American culture and her Greek family who are rather too involved and intrusive at times. Unlike her mother she's quite outgoing and looks cool rather than being a bit nerdy.
The wedding in this film, however, refers to a different, older pair - rewatching less than five years after the first time, we remembered what happened, but it didn't spoil the enjoyment at all. We had forgotten most of the details, and appreciated, again, the side comments and jokes about Greek language.
Rated 12, and unlikely to be of interest to younger children, but it's really quite a family-orientated film with no 'strong' language, and most sexual references involving marriage. The only slightly steamy scene involves a married couple, and they are interrupted before anything much happens.
Definitely recommended if you have seen the first film.
