Eiryn is riddled with anger, Riordan with guilt. They got together ten years ago and it was explosive but Riordan ended it viciously and neither have recovered. This was a hard read, the first half of the book is so full of angst from both their parts, alternating that with scenes of explosive over the top sex, while they go under cover as compliant winter married couple. I am normally not put off by raw, edgy stories but this one was a struggle. The best part of the book was the last 20%. Mixed feelings about this read, I walked away from it several times before finishing. ( )

This series gets better and crazier as it progresses. I thought Gunnar and Maud's story was my favorite but Eiryn and Riordan are so much better. Both have been intriguing characters in the past 2 books, especially Eiryn. It also stresses that no matter how much a woman can be come an equal of a man, at heart she truly is a woman and needs a man that she can be real with, without judgement. So looking forward to the next book. I hope it is about the Clan King and the Princess ;-D

Anger and revenge have fueled Eiryn’s life for years. She is the Clan King’s bodyguard but has reached a point in her life where her life is not working as well for her as it once did. When the opportunity to go undercover with another Raider comes along she snaps it up…even though Riordan and she have a problematic relationship. Both are warriors, raiders and “brothers” who put clan first. Their mission is paramount and will require them to put their past issues aside in order to achieve their goal.

At first I thought Eiryn was a spoiled brat and overly curt and acerbic. I liked Riordan more than Eiryn. As the story unfolds both of their pasts are slowly revealed in a way that gives them depth and explains why they have become who they are as well as why they relate to one another the way they do. If I had not continued to read and become stuck in the acerbity of Eiryn then I would have missed the great treat this book is and what a loss that would have been.

I enjoyed the emotional grown and personal insights Eiryn experienced as she and Riordan made their trek to their destination. They definitely struck sparks off one another in more ways than one. Sometimes hate is used to fuel anger and hide what one really feels and that is just what Eiryn had been doing for years. Her awakening was enjoyable to experience. She was a force to be reckoned with but definitely more insightful and well-rounded by the end of the book than when the book began.

I love this exciting dystopian world.
Eryn has finally found out the truth about her father and it is making it hard to keep her anger in check and stay faithful to what she had alway believed to be true.

Riordan is one their strongest and ruthless warrior's. He also has had his eye on Eryn, after they got close and separated many years ago.

Now they are to spy on a mission together and they have to act as a couple. Will being so close bring them together again or will it break them apart for ever?

I'm loving this series, there's action and adventure and lots of steamy romance. I look forward to the next book in the series. ( )
