I read the informational book Baby Giraffes. I actually liked this book even though it was very elementary because it really taught me a lot about baby giraffes. This book went through the relationship of the baby giraffe with its mom and what happens when the giraffe is able to join the rest of the herd. The two things that really made me like this book were the photographs and the bold terms/glossary.
While reading this book every page had a photograph that went with the sentence on the page. Those photographs really made me more interested in what the book was saying because not only did I have the words but I also had photographs to show me what the book was saying. Also the photos of the baby giraffes were adorable and I’m an animal lover so that really was what made me like the book.
The second thing that made me like this book was the fact that the important words that went along with learning about baby giraffes were in bold print to make them stand out. This made me focus on those words and know that they are important to what is being said. Also in the back of the book was a glossary that had those bold terms listed and their definitions in respect to the story.
The message of this story is to inform readers about the early life of a baby giraffe. It gives information in simple terms and gives photographs in order to help push what need to be known about baby giraffes. ( )
