Dr. Hyman provides a correction of information about the effects of carbohydrates and fats on health. It pains me that I spent much of my life adhering to incorrect information about diet. Dr. Hyman has done the research and provides useful information that is not biased by industry. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who has not read any of his other books. ( )

In a world where we are constantly surrounded by processed (or overly-processed) foods, it's encouraging to hear that fat may not necessarily be the culprit. Sugar definitely sounds like a contributing factor to all of our health issues. After all, we've been told that sugar can cause tooth decay. If it can destroy our teeth, it can pretty much destroy anything else in our bodies.

As a picky eater, I'm not sure I could stick to the plan 100%, but I'm sure I could make some adaptations. A little progress is better than none, I suppose. ( )

The book demystifies age-old myth about what is killing us. The author provides references to the numerous myth-busting scientific studies. This is the first American-authored book which talks about Ghee - a milk product consumed across India. This demonstrates the breadth and depth of Dr. Mark Hyman's research.

It illustrates how fat, carbs, and sugar are interconnected and how they affect our bodies.

There are a couple of questionnaires in the beginning of the book and though I fared well, I still have to make some changes in my food habits for a better well-being.

It prescribes a detailed diet plan and I'm hearing people sticking to such diets improving the quality of their life by leaps and bounds. I'm yet to try the various recipes mentioned in the book, but I'm inclined to presuming most of them are delicious. ( )

Highly recommend reading this book for the info on heart disease and high cholesterol. Gives a list of the specific tests you should be asking for to determine heart health (that your Dr. probably isn't checking). Program seems sound and the recipes look good. I borrowed this from the library, but may have to buy a copy to use as a reference. ( )

Well written and easy to access. There is a lot of detail in the chapters including fine print (in normal print) for individuals with specific health conditions to watch out for. Technical, but not over the top. It follows along nicely with recent work by JJ Virgin. I'm sure that this will be very popular because of the recent PBS special. Dr. Hyman has been an active guest on podcasts and YouTube as well. ( )
