Waaaay too immature

Honestly was into the series at first, but once I got midway *cough*chapter 13*cough*, I started to get annoyed by Cammie and her immature ways. I literally couldn't bear reading another chapter. Shame, I had high hopes for this. ( )

I wanted to like this. I really did. I loved The Duet so I was looking forward to reading Cammie and Grayson's story. Unfortunately, I couldn't stand either of them.
Cammie is insufferable and immature. Not to mention incredibly unprofessional considering her dreams of becoming an architect. Grayson is no better. Maybe if there'd been more than just a prologue from his POV he could have been redeemed a bit.
I was hoping this would be another enjoyable romantic comedy but I'm sad to say that wasn't the case. If it weren't for bits of Brooklyn and Jason here and there this would have only received 1 star from me. ( )

Before I read the book:
- Promise of a fun, light read: check √
- Intriguing synopsis that keeps you wanting more: check √
- Promise of a badass successful main character who doesn't take shit from you: check √

After reading the book
*sighs* I wouldn't day I'm straight out disappointed in this book, more like underwhelmed by it.
I expected more of it, I sort of got what I wanted but not exactly.
It's like when you order a prom dress from China online, but once you get it, it is what you ordered but not exactly how you expected it to be.

I was really annoyed by Cammie at the start of the book, there's a thin line between being confident and being straight out desperate.
I feel like she crossed that line a few times. Don't get me wrong, I liked the fact that despite everything she wasn't afraid to march into Grayson's office and call him on his bluff. But at some point it was a little too much.
I really liked how devoted to her work she was though, and I liked that the author actually took time to write about her job and how passionate about it she was rather than just mentioning it as an afterthought like a lot of authors do nowadays *glares at [b: When Dimple Met Rishi|28458598|When Dimple Met Rishi|Sandhya Menon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1475687488s/28458598.jpg|48593860]*

I sort of felt like the middle of the book dragged on (yes I'm aware that I finished it in one day but still) without really building chemistry between the main characters.
Sure, they spent a lot of time together but they were either making out, humping each other or fighting. So excuse me if I don't think they're otp material.
That would lead to the next thing I had an issue with, which is the ending. I felt like the last few chapters (post epilogues of course) were too rushed
She left, regretted it, came back, he shows her that she won that contest thingy,
he proposes and BAM they live happily ever after!

Cammie and Grayson didn't even work out their problems nor did they have the heart-to-heart I've been waiting for throughout the whole book.

In general, it's a light fun read, though if I were to recommend an R.S. Grey novel to anyone else, this would probably not be my choice. In fact, I'd much rather recommend [b: The Foxe and The Hound|35244824|The Foxe & the Hound|R.S. Grey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1495990836s/35244824.jpg|56148884] ( )

R.S Grey has hit a stride I her writing style that leaves me wanting to be lost in her stories, be best friends with the heroine and her wry sense of humor shines through the personalities easily. Without question I have many favorite authors as I read way too much, but only R.S Grey makes me want to send her money monthly so that she can continue to write. Whatever it takes, I will babysit her kids, clean her house, send her care packages, loan her my laptop, whatever. I go through withdrawals when not reading her books and her books are the standard that all the books I read strive to measure up to. Ive given books 5 stars but until R.S Grey...I want to go back and downgrade all the books I've ever given 5 stars to a 4. or better yet just add a 6 star rating for her. As a romance writer myself, she inspires me to write as my quirky self thinks, just like her characters express themselves. This book made me laugh, cry, squirm, sigh and made my heart race. Once again, she is the ONLY author that makes me laugh out loud numerous times, and I've had to re -read parts to others because I have to share her funny stuff, because its too funny !! So yeah, I would say I'm a fan. :) ( )
