Pete the cat doesn’t want to go to bed. His eyes are big and wide. James Dean has made this book kinda monochromatic, mostly everything is blue. Pete is blue, his bed is blue and yellow, his walls are all blue, his sheets are blue, etc. Definitely a great bedtime book that any kid can relate to, but probably won’t fall asleep to since the illustrations are funny and engaging. ( )

I think my Pete the Cat curiosity has been completely satisfied. ;-) ( )

I chose Pete the Cat books because they are a great group/series of books to have for the lower grade children. Kindergartners love them because they are able to say/chant/sing along to certain parts in the books. These books are great to keep students interactive and to make sure they are following along when you, the teacher, are reading the book. ( )

Pete and his friends have so much fun at the beach they decide to go home with Pete and have a sleepover....only not all want to go to sleep.

After a fun day at the beach, Pete the Cat suggests that his friends come over to his house for a sleepover, in order to continue the good times. What he doesn't expect is that his restless companions will keep him up, when he's just trying to get some zzzzs. Fortunately, Pete thinks to break out a book, and an impromptu story-time sends everyone off to the land of nod, there to dream of another day of fun in the sun...

The seventh full-size picture-book devoted to the adventures of that ever-cool cat, Pete the Cat and the Bedtime Blues is only the second title I have read from this series that wasn't written by the original author/songwriter, Eric Litwin. Like Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses (the first non-Litwin title I read), I thought the narrative here was a little lacking. There's none of the sing-song quality of the earlier books, despite the repetitive structure of the tale, and even the positive message about keeping cool in the face of difficulties, which did find its way into the sunglasses book, is largely absent here. I'll probably be reading more of these later Pete the Cat books for a project I'm doing at work, but overall, I have to say that this one was a bit of a disappointment. ( )
