I was enthralled throughout the entire book and this installment might just be my new favorite. ( ) [b:Vincent|23297619|Vincent (Vampires in America, #8)|D.B. This one is jammed full of action. It starts almost from the start and continues to the last page. When Lana shows up in Mexico Vincents life as he knows it gets more complicated and things get flat out crazy. As they travel through Mexico to their intended destination everything takes a huge curve into extreme danger. Through his involvement with Lana, Vincent discovers his Sire is guilty of one of the worse crimes a Vampire can commit. One that means instant death if discovered by the other Lords. Both MC's are cool as heck, have strong personalities and neither of them disappoint. Lana is definitely one tough and smart lady. Vincent is charming and determined. I loved it. If you're a fan of this series you are going to love it too. As for the romance........ Just re-read Vincent. Actually liked it even better the second time around. D.B. Reynolds writes some of the best vampire romances out there. I cannot recommend this series enough. I'm a huge fan of D.B. Reynolds' work and Vincent was no exception. I really liked this hero. He was more light-hearted than the typical heroes in her books. I would've liked to have seen the relationship develop a little more. By that I mean, I would've liked to have had the turning point in the hero and heroine's emotions prolonged a little. It seemed to come up fast and end rather quickly. I almost thought I missed a page. I also would've liked an explanation of what happened to the heroine's ex, but that might be answered in future books. None of these things diminished my enjoyment of the book. I still highly recommend it to anyone who loves vampire romances. Dear Vincent Kuxim, you were lovely! *grinning* Just one big bloodthirsty teddy bear, a total softie with our heroine and a beast with all his enemies, and there were many. You know I rarely read paranormal romance, but D.B. is an author I come back to again and again. She writes such a successful blend of PNR and UF that you end up with a great mix of non-stop action and a scatter of steamy sex in between. Phew! Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter hired by Cynthia Leighton to find an old vampire within Mexico and give him a message from Raphael. The only condition? She has to take Vincent Kuxim, a vampire lieutenant of a current territory lord with her as a partner. Vincent is quite comfortable living away from his lord and watching over the territory that he personally thinks would be better off under his own rule. When he gets a request from Raphael to help Lana, he can't refuse because Raphael is the North-American vampire lord he wants to keep as his ally when he makes his move for the territory. Lana intrigues and charms him as this bold, strong woman who would not give in to the attraction between them and who at the same time tries to keep him safe on their journey together. Lana is a fantastic heroine! She knows she is outclassed by all these powerful vampires around her, and yet because she uses her wit and strength and ruthless practicality over and over again it's her who saves Vincent and does what needs to be done without much hustle. There were plenty of times I cheered for her. I loved this book, and I loved the clash between Vincent and Lana, the tension building, and the explosive lovemaking that followed. The plot was dynamic with narco barons and vampire intrigues blended together with a bit of Vincent's history among the desolate, desert locations of the country in all its stark beauty. Much recommended to anyone who loves strong women kicking ass and their vampire partners who can cope with that without trying to treat their females as fragile glass. An excellent read! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
