I AM THE TRAITOR by Allen Madoff is the third book in a trilogy and I feel it is a suitable finale to end it. While the first two books were slam-bang action tales, this is more of a maturing look at Boy Nobody. The acton is here, the heroics, the life-threatening situations, but there is an added element of humor and more intimate relationships for our young assassin, The Program tried to remove the humanity from its “soldiers”, making them perfect little killing machines, but in reality, the entire cadre of killers are nothing more than highly trained, yet lost, murderers. When Boy Nobody finds his growing list of questions, especially the one about the reality of his parents “deaths”, coming into the realm of maybe getting some answers finally, he is torn between loyalty and the need to know. He has a growing friendship with a kid from a past mission, and a possible love relationship with a young woman who puzzles him on so many levels. To see Boy finally coming to grips with his feelings and his past sets up a nice ending. When he finally faces The Program head on, he, and you, will receive shocks and stunning revelations. In short this is a great ending for this tale of tragedy, death, betrayal, love and friendship. And keep in mind, Boy Nobody does not make it out unscathed. I received an eARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. After being pleasantly surprised by [b:I Am the Weapon|18453088|I Am the Weapon (The Unknown Assassin, #1)|Allen Zadoff|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1393222166s/18453088.jpg|20387130], I felt really let down by [b:I Am the Mission|18634740|I Am the Mission (The Unknown Assassin, #2)|Allen Zadoff|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1399328324s/18634740.jpg|26431028]. It just felt like the snappy writing at the expense of character development was getting a little old, and I couldn't believe how much I felt like we had to start at square one again with Zach. I felt like Zadoff had built enough questions that Zach should have been thinking about them more by the end of the second book. So, in some ways, starting this one, I was again wary. Once again, Zach is teetering between agreeing with the Program and disagreeing with it. But I thought the ending here, if very abrupt, was at least a little more satisfying. There's still some ruthless violence, and lots of action. I'll also say this: Zadoff's specialty is writing action scenes. It's not romance. I really cringed when, after an introduction to Tanya that was very unremarkable, Zach suddenly said, a short while later, that Tanya seemed to have "that effect" on him. Huh? Just no. It got a little better later, but honestly, the romance here was awkward and I kind of wish it wasn't there at all. But this is an entertaining trilogy, and if it's not going to go down as one of my favorites, it still struck me as a quick and kind of pleasant surprise. In this third installment, Zach/Daniel/Ben has to move on from Camp Liberty and Miranda & Lee. Will he be able to rejoin The Program? Has he gone too far in questioning his orders? Can he trust Tanya? Will he be able to find Howard and get information about his real father? In another fast action, page turning installment, he faces many twists, turns, and dangers. Excellent third installments, read it in less than a day. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

After breaking free of The Program, Boy Nobody is on a mission of his own to reclaim his life and rescue his friend Howard from the secret organization that has turned him and other orphaned children into trained assassins--but he has no idea who, if anyone, he can trust, or what the consequences will be if he succeeds in bringing down The Program. In I Am the Traitor, Zach faces difficult choices based on information that may or may not be correct, making him examine everything he has done and what he has been told. The most difficult choice he faces is what kind of person he wants to be and ultimately that is what drives most of this final entry in the Unknown Assassin series. The big twist near the end of the book is somewhat predictable based on the foreshadowing throughout the rest of the series, but the final resolution of the story was a bit more unexpected. Overall, this is a very good ending for a spy adventure that is a cut above others of this type. ( )
