Shhh... don't tell all the tourists, but this is a pretty close description of a week at the Jersey Shore. ;) http://shelf-employed.blogspot.com nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Summer vacations can be magical. Especially when you go back to the same place every year. A place where you can learn to dive under the waves. A place where digging a hole to the center of the earth seems possible. A place where nothing ever changes and where each long, lazy day unfolds just as it did the year before. See You Next Year is the story of one such place. Only this year, something does change. And sometimes, change turns out to be a good thing. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

I also liked this book because of the illustrations. The colors used in the illustrations are mostly cool colors (blues and greens) mixed with rusty colors (orange and red). The mix of these colors really makes the illustrations pop. One example of this is on the page where the children are roasting marshmallows over a bon fire on the beach. The contrast between the dark blue sky and the orange and red fire really makes the fire look like it’s glowing. The bright yellow and orange sunbeams look like they are bursting off the page when the girl and her family are leaving the beach and she is waving goodbye to her friend.
I think that the main idea for this book is that it is ok to do the same thing (like go on the same vacation) more then once. In fact the little girl in the story actually enjoyed doing the same thing each year for vacation. I also think that another main idea is to focus on the bright side. At first the little girl was disappointed that she has to leave and her friend got to stay an extra day. When she got home though she saw that he sent her a post card saying "See you next year". Instead of focusing on the fact that she had to wait a year to go back and see him she looked forwarded to getting to go back the following year. ( )
