A Mom's Redemption Annie Payton's lost everything she once held dear. The Village of Hope is her last chance to rebuild the life she's frittered away so needlessly. But as she works to regain custody of her children, she never imagines an unlikely advocate in her corner--ex-husband Ian Montgomery. Ian's always willing to help those down on their luck, but his ex-wife's a different story. Her past betrayal is still a painful memory. As the Village's lawyer, he'll represent her--but that's as far as he'll allow his feelings to go. Can Annie show Ian that she's changed in every way but one--the love she still has for him? Second Chance Reunion offers us a window into the life of Annie Payton and her determination to remain clean.
The story begins with Annie’s arrival at the Village of Hope, a Christian center where people can come for shelter from abuse, to get back on their feet after going through rehab, or reside in an assisted living facility. In addition, the shelter offers legal services which Annie desperately needs in order to help win back her children. However, upon realizing that Annie is his ex-wife, board member and Village of Hope attorney Ian Montgomery arranges for someone else to represent her.
The Village is in dire financial trouble and needs someone to help them find a way to stay afloat. Annie’s background as a financial consultant catches the attention of others, and they recommend that she be hired on a temporary basis to see if she can help find a way to save the program. Ian is more than a little reluctant for this to happen as he remembers her as being an untrustworthy addict but is finally convinced that they should give Annie a chance and ask for help.
I found it easy to be caught up in the details of Annie’s life and feel the struggles that both she and Ian (also a former addict) go through as they fight the demons of the past and find a way to face the future. But will that future continue with them on separate paths or will they somehow find a way to learn to trust each other again?
This is a compelling story and I encourage readers to step into the lives of Annie and Ian and see where this Second Chance Reunion will take them.
