I haven't read mainstream American superhero comics in almost twenty years (since DC's Identity Crisis), but this reminded me of why I enjoy superhero comics when they're not full of dark takes on characters that are a bit silly on an inherent level. I felt this did a great job balancing the serious and the emotional without getting bogged down in it all. ( ) To be brutally honest, after the last collection, a lot of this was a little disappointing. Waid tries to sell that the move back to San Francisco is a huge change in Daredevil's life, but I'm not sure that he really succeeds...at the end of the day, it kind of just feels like they're still in New York. That being said, it's still Waid and Samnee on Daredevil, which is worth the price of admission in and of itself. Continuing on my education of all of Marvel's lineup, I started with the most recent #1 issue of Daredevil, mostly because I don't have the time to go back to read the hundreds of books that go back to the 60's. I have a passing familiarity with the character that comes mostly from the Ben Affleck movie. The story was a little confusing at first as it references events that happened in previous books. For example, apparently the secret identity of Daredevil, Matt Murdock, has been revealed to the world and the location of the comic has changed from New York City to San Francisco. The book does a good job of catching people up on what has happened previously so you don't have to read a ton of books in order to jump in at this point. Artwork is interesting, especially the parts where it shows off what Daredevil is "seeing" through his senses. Story is engaging and makes me want to continue reading this series. Prerequisite comics: none Waid and Samnee continue a great run on Daredevil, which remains one of the most fun superhero sites out there. If you're new to the series, I would recommend starting from the beginning of Waid's run. It's not critical in terms of understanding the story, but as a collection this latest volume doesn't reach the highs of what came before. It's still solid if you're reading them all, though. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
